About TrainBot India
TrainBot India is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Indian Railways, IRCTC, or any rail operator or ticketing organisation.
What it is
TrainBot India answers Indian Railways enquiries inside WhatsApp. You save one number, send a question the way you would text a friend, and the answer comes back in seconds. There is no app to install, no account to create and no login. It is free, and it has never asked anyone for payment.
It answers live running status, PNR and coach position, seat availability, schedules, trains between two stations, departures from a station, and fares. You can send a train number, a PNR, a Hindi or English voice note, or a photograph of your ticket instead of typing a number off it.
Why it exists
Almost everything about an Indian train journey is published information, and almost all of it sits behind an app you have to install or an account you have to create. That is a reasonable trade for buying a ticket. It is a bad trade for finding out whether a train has left, which is a question people ask standing on a platform, on a slow connection, often on somebody else’s phone.
So the whole product is the removal of that step. Everything else follows from it: the answers live in a chat app people already have, in the language they already write in, and the thread remembers what you asked about so a follow-up can be four words rather than a fresh start.
Who runs it
Two of us build and run TrainBot India, from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It is independently operated and independently funded. You can reach us directly by email at contact@trainbotindia.com, or by messaging +91 78048 26903 — the same number the service itself answers on. There is no support queue in between.
Where the answers come from
Railway information is retrieved from a third-party data provider at the moment you ask. Nothing is answered from memory: if the lookup fails, the reply says the railway did not respond rather than guessing, because a confident wrong answer about a platform is worse for you than no answer at all.
That also means the information is indicative, not authoritative. For anything that decides a journey — boarding, a connection, a refund — the railway’s own channels are the record, and this service is not a substitute for them.
Languages
You can write in your own language and the reply is meant to come back in the same language and the same script, without anybody choosing a setting. That has been tested across ten Indian scripts and it held in all ten. Voice notes are transcribed by a model set up for Hindi and English, so those two are the languages to speak in. Station and train names are never translated — the board at the station says what the railway says.
What it will never do
- It does not sell, book, cancel or refund tickets, and it never asks you to pay for anything. Buying a ticket is the act that genuinely needs the official channel.
- It does not reproduce timetables or fare tables on this website. The writing here explains how the railway works; the live numbers stay in the chat, where they are fetched fresh for the person who asked.
- It does not claim to be the railway, and it will correct anyone who assumes it is.
How it is paid for
The service is free to use and there is no paid tier. Running it costs money — a server, a railway data subscription, WhatsApp message fees — and the intention is to cover that with advertising on this website. Advertising is confined to the website and reaches nothing inside WhatsApp; what that means in detail is set out in the privacy notice.
Reading and reaching us
The guide explains how Indian Railways actually works, in plain words and with no timetables in it. The privacy notice sets out what is stored and how to erase it — send DELETE to the WhatsApp number and everything held about you goes, immediately and without asking us. The terms say what is and is not promised, and contact is the shortest way to a person.
